Read MoreWith the weather warming up and restaurant and gym capacity restrictions lifted in Baltimore County (as of 5 p.m. on March 12), spirits are high in the Towson community. Local spots have many plans in the works to celebrate the new season. Here’s a look at what’s happening right outside the doors of Hampton Plaza Apartments:
Olympic Place restaurant Cunningham’s closed last year, during the pandemic. This year, the space has received a refresh by celebrated local designer Patrick Sutton and when the restaurant inside reopens this spring, it will be called Perennial.
Cunningham’s chef Jay Rohlfing – who is terrific – remains at the helm and Perennial will also carry on Cunningham’s commitment to work with local farmers and purveyors.
St. Patrick’s Day is officially Wednesday, March 17, but at many Towson eateries, the celebration of the Irish lasts all month long. Keep an eye out for specials (like Reuben sandwiches at Barley’s, Guinness beef stew at CVP, and Guinness Blonde deals at C&R) and fun events, like kegs and eggs at The Point.
Plus, Towson restaurants and bars are banding together the weekend before St. Patrick’s Day, hosting an Irish stroll on Saturday March 13. There will be fun specials and entertainment at several downtown Towson spots, including Nacho Mama’s, The Point, Rec Room, Barley’s Backyard Uptown, and CVP.
The Point is continuing its pop-up series, welcoming chefs from different spots around the city for kitchen takeovers. On Monday, March 22, Chef Jonny Lease will offer a fun BBQ menu – and there are more pop-ups to come, too.
Maryland Day is March 25 and Towson Hot Bagel has fun plans in store for the holiday. The Towson bagelry is serving fun Maryland flag themed bagels that day (they’re available for pre-order, too) and will host a “Feed the Industry” event in partnership with the Baltimore Restaurant Relief Fund.
During the event, THB will provide a meal to unemployed/underemployed members of Baltimore’s restaurant community who sign up via the BRRF website.
On Thursday, March 25, head to The Point with a photo of your favorite pet for a night of sips, snacks, and pet portrait painting.
After an 8-year hiatus, live music returns this month to The Recher Theater.
Opening night is March 19 – local icons Kelly Bell Band will take the stage for the first show. That concert is sold out already but there will be plenty more to follow, including a comedy show hosted by Mickey Cucchiella on March 20 and The Dirty Grass Players on March 26.
The Recher isn’t the only live music venue in town, either – keep an eye on social media for spots like C&R, The Point and Barley’s. They frequently host smaller acts, both on weekends and weeknights.
There’s much to look forward to over the next several months, including the return of Towson Gardens Day on April 29, a new season of Feet on the Street starting May 7, and the renewal of the Towson Farmer’s Market on June 3.

The air might be chilly but downtown Towson is hot this month. From football deals to Valentine’s celebrations, there’s plenty for residents of Hampton Plaza Apartments to enjoy, right downtown.
Here’s a look at what’s coming up around Towson:
Super Bowl Specials
The Super Bowl is late this year – Sunday, Feb. 13 – and while the Ravens are, sadly, not contenders, the matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and LA Rams should be a good one.
Spots all over Towson will be showing the game on multiple screens – and offering fun deals while you watch.
CVP has tons of deals available during the game, from $9.99 32-ounce orange crushes to $9.99 crab pretzels. The restaurant is offering carryout deals, too, if you’d rather watch from the comfort of your apartment.
At World of Beer, enjoy $6 appetizers, including loaded tots and burger or chicken sliders, and $4 White Claws, Michelob Ultras or Bud Lights during the game.
Before Valentine’s Day…comes Galentine’s Day. On Saturday, Feb. 12, The Point in Towson will celebrate the day for the ladies with a fun drag brunch, hosted by Robyn Ya’Men.
Papi’s Tacos has a fun taco date package available between Friday, Feb. 11 and (Taco) Tuesday, Feb. 15. The deal, which is available to order online, includes tacos (served in a heart-shaped container), salsa, guacamole, rice and beans, chile toreado, margaritas, dessert (tres leches cake or churros) and conversation hearts. It’s available for two or four people.
The brand new Whole Foods has a bunch of Valentine’s Day deals, including a double dozen bunch of roses for just $19.99 for Amazon Prime members. The flower deal is available from Feb. 9 to Feb. 15 (so even if you’re a day late, you can still take advantage of it).
Does your loved one love bagels? From now through Feb. 14, THB Bagelry & Deli is offering free shipping on a Valentine’s merch combo: a travel mug and bagel long-sleeve t-shirt. Plus, THB’s sweet cinnamon bagels are back for the season – they just might be better than Valentine’s chocolate.
Local spots are busy updating their menus for the season.
Barley’s Backyard Uptown has a few new items on the menu, including spaghetti and meatballs with a side Caesar salad, which looks perfect for cold February days and nights.
Check out The Point in Towson’s hoisin turkey smash burger, plus other items from the updated February menu.
On Saturday, Feb. 19, the rock band Kix will perform at The Recher for the first time ever. Local rockers Last Kiss Goodnight will open.
Now is the time to grab tickets for some of the venue’s big upcoming shows, too, including Carbon Leaf on Friday, March 18, Cowboy Mouth on Saturday, March 19, and Better Off Dead on Friday, April 1.
At C&R Pub, acoustic musician Tony Lardieri will play on Friday, Feb. 18, starting at 9 p.m., and on Saturday, March 5, the Carlos Cubas Band will perform.
On Saturday evenings, Nacho Mama’s hosts live music – usually more than one act – from happy hour through 11 p.m.
Perennial continues to host happy hour music every single day – both weekdays and weekends – from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Sam Cochran will perform at The Point in Towson on Friday, Feb. 11.
Several local spots are participating in the Towson Chamber’s “Year of the Tiger” extended Lunar New Year celebration (which is also a nod to the Towson Tiger). , including Red Pepper Sichuan Bistro, Coffee Talk Café and Towson Best.
At Coffee Talk Café, from now through Feb. 15, check out the Year of the Tiger sandwich and at Towson Best Chinese & Sushi, you’ll receive 10% off all menu items from now through Feb. 15.
Plus, from now through Feb. 15, Paradise Spa is offering a 10% discount on expenditures of $30 and more and a gift card deal – buy two 60-minute gift cards and get a 30-minute gift card free.
Year of the Tiger events and deals will continue throughout the year – mark you calendar now for March cultural events at Red Pepper Sichuan Bistro.
Towson Town Center’s Dine & Delight promotion, offering a $20 reward when you spend $50 or more at mall restaurants, is going strong, now through the end of February.
